Hi, Philip Chesney here from English Interviews. In today’s video, we are going to see some tips on how to write a thank you letter after an interview. “Best Post Interview Thank You Letter Tips”

Although the interview has changed over the years, gotten technical and can be done through Skype, over the phone or Google Hangout, the one thing that hasn’t changed and you should still do it send your interviewer a thankyou letter. Now, you don’t have to mail it, just drop the person a short email. Let’s look at some do’s and don’ts.


Do’s and Don’ts

  1. Make sure you send the email right away or within a 24hour period. Make sure to reinforce your interest in the position.
  2. If there were multiple people in the interview, make sure to copy them in the email.
  3. For your email subject line, make sure you add the position name like Senior Product Manager – Thank You This is a great way to show gratitude and keep your name in the mind of the interviewer.
  4. Remember to reinforce Why you are the best person for this job. Highlight some of your main qualifications and why these will really help on the job. Also, If you forgot to mention something about one of your relevant skills, mention it here.
  5. Make sure to add any links to your social media profiles like LinkedIn and Facebook, and also links to any relevant articles and portfolios. The more you can show, the better.
  6. Don’t bombard your interviewer with tons of emails. They are busy people and probably receive hundreds of resumes.
  7. Make sure that if you send your social media profiles, clean up your profiles. Don’t share inappropriate pictures, posts, and profanity. Clean it up. You want to make a good impression.
  8. Make sure your email correspondence with the interviewer is written correctly with good grammar. Also, review this in your Linkedin profile.


Example Email

Dear Hiring Manager:

I would like to thank you for taking your time to interview me this morning regarding the senior product manager position. After our talk, I have a much better idea of the profile you are looking for and the scope of the job. I strongly feel that I am match for the position because of my in-depth knowledge and experience in product management at several startups and having launched multiple products of my own.

It was a pleasure speaking with you and please contact me if you have any questions or need any clarifications of my experience. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
